Preparing Your Home For Valentine's Day

Though February is the shortest month of the year, it’s still one of the most important of the year.
For starters, it’s one often filled with love and gratitude for those in your life. It’s also the second of the new year, still filled with hope and promise. So why not take that hope and love and use it towards your home?
For many, over the next few days might be filled with cooking your loved one's meals, creating memories, or simply doing something you enjoy with someone you love. But if you don’t take the time to prepare your home for these events, you could be spending the next few days hanging with one of our plumbers. So here’s how to prepare your home for Valentine’s Day:
Give Your Drains Some Love
Planning a romantic dinner or baking your kids their favorite cookies? Don’t let a clogged drain get in the way of your holiday plans. If you have a slow-draining sink, now is the time to stop ignoring it and get it fixed.
If you are having some holiday guests over, don’t forget to make sure your bathroom trash can is nearby. The last thing you want is to have someone flush some non-flushable items down your toilet and leave you with a clog.

Clean up Without The Clog
Whether you are cooking a steak dinner or baking sweet treats, the fats and oils that come with it should never, ever be placed down the drain. The reason being is that as they cool, they harden, and when they do so in your pipes, you are putting yourself at risk for a major clog. Instead, dispose of these fats and oils in a can or old plastic container and place them in the trash.
Prepare for a Relaxing Bath
If you plan to have some alone time and enjoy the night with a long relaxing bath, be sure to prepare ahead. Make sure your tub is clean and sparkling, your candles are ready to go. Doing a little prep now can help you sit back, relax, and just enjoy the night ahead.
